Weird Indie Kids

I'm starting this series of posts to divulge the weird indie kids like me out there with the weird stuff that we like. Where I am currently most people have never listened to Sonic Youth, read or seen A Clockwork Orange , or even heard of Erin Wasson. It's quite sad really.
But here's our forum for totally bizarre discussions on totally rad and obscure pop-culture occurences.

My first topic of Indie Pop Culture is director Gregg Araki.
The first time I watched Mysterious Skin I was hooked. His movies are raw and crude, just how they should be. They have this kind of grungy beauty to them.
And then there's Doom Generation and Nowhere. Now those movies are not for the faint-hearted and they are totally gorgeous for it. When I watched these movies, it gave me an epiphany. This is what movies should be; raw expressions of human indignities.








Check em out. They may just change your perceptions.

Finally!

So I plan on starting the "real beauty" project tommorow.
I've got it all planned out in my head.
I'll keep you posted on the progress, but basically right now it is a blank little notebook that I got from Urban Outfitters on black friday for almost nothing.

The Future of the World

I am the galactic voyager of stellar internal imagery. And inside my swimming nebula of good feelings I'm picturing this awesome ideal world for myself.
I've been making these lists of things for me to do lately.
They give this sense of hope you know, like my life won't just end up average and everything I hate.
Anyway my number one goal lately is to make a connection with another person.
I'm not saying I need to find a special(whatever)friend, it means I want another person to see who I am for real in every way positive (and if necessary, negative).

Crap, why do I have to be so picky?

Fish intrigue me. They hold such serene beauty, and I feel like such a stoner when I can just sit and stare at them for hours. They take me out of my world and delve me into an intense sensory overload that is all but overwhelming.
it could just be me.
Or they could just be the most fascinatingly radical creatures out there.

Things to do in your life.
1. Make a fort with someone special, and freeze your ass off in it over the course of the freezing night, which is spent on the cold hard-wood floor. But no matter, this is a fort and it is rad.
2. Go to Barnes and Nobles (or Borders or whatever) and spend a day in the magazine section. Just the magazine section.
3. Paint a van.
4. Be a street performer. (Money hat optional)
5. Kiss your best friend. It probably won't kill you I swear, it's a whole different type of attraction.
